Healthy Millet Dosa Recipe

Millet dosa is a nutritious and healthy alternative to regular rice dosa. Millets are rich in fiber, protein, and essential minerals, making them an excellent choice for a balanced diet. This crispy and tasty dosa is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and pairs well with chutney or sambar.

Millets are becoming increasingly popular because they are gluten-free, diabetic-friendly, and easy to digest. This millet dosa recipe is simple to prepare and requires only a few ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Mixed millets – 1 cup

  • Urad dal – ½ cup

  • Fenugreek seeds – ½ tsp

  • Salt – to taste

  • Water – as required

  • Oil – for cooking dosa

Preparation Method

1. Soaking

Wash the millets and urad dal thoroughly. Soak them together with fenugreek seeds in water for 6–8 hours.

2. Grinding

Drain the water and grind the soaked ingredients into a smooth batter using a mixer grinder. Add water as needed to get dosa batter consistency.

3. Fermentation

Transfer the batter to a bowl, add salt, and allow it to ferment overnight or for 8 hours.

4. Making Dosa

Heat a dosa tawa on medium flame. Pour a ladle of batter and spread it in a circular motion to make a thin dosa.

5. Cooking

Drizzle a little oil around the edges and cook until the dosa turns golden and crispy. Flip if needed and cook the other side.

Serve hot with coconut chutney, tomato chutney, or sambar.
